Delivering safe, effective products that enhance quality of life is core business for Accord members.

To support this commitment and to complement Australia's strong system of health, safety and environment regulation are Accord's codes, guidelines and reports. These help ensure industry-wide best practice or assist in the safe use of products, to the benefit of society.

Industry Guideline for Labelling & Packaging of Liquid Laundry Capsules (March 2026)

To guide the laundry products industry on appropriate labelling, packaging and design measures that will guide consumer safety and reduce the likelihood of child exposure to the contents of liquid laundry capsules.

Voluntary Industry Code of Practice: to support the Australian ban on testing cosmetics on animals (March 2025 update)

The Australian Government introduced laws to ban the use of data or information from animal tests conducted from 1 July 2020 for cosmetics. This Voluntary Industry Code of Practice to Support the Australian Ban on Testing Cosmetics on Animals aims to guide consistency and provide clarity regarding not tested on animals terms and advertising claims used by the Cosmetics Industry.

Climate Change: Information Paper & the case for action (April 2023)

 The goal of this paper is to articulate a case for Accord commencing a climate-change strategy on behalf of the hygiene, personal care and specialty products industry.

Hand Sanitiser Industry benchmark (December 2020)

 The aim of the Industry Benchmark is to comprehensively address concerns around quality, efficacy and safety of non-therapeutic hand sanitisers in line with existing regulatory requirements and existing industry standards and expectations.

This Guide explains the requirements for cleaners and sanitisers that may incidentally contact food, helping ensure product suitability and consistent industry practices.

Guiding the formulated products industry on ethical sourcing best practice and considerations.

Formulated Products VOC Emissions (July 2014)

An industry report completed as part of a collaborative engagement with the NSW EPA in order to provide Australian environmental policy makers with reliable baseline data on locally relevant consumer product volatile organic compound (VOC) emission estimates.

Code of Practice for Household & Commercial Cleaning Products Claiming Antibacterial Action (October 2002)

This Code provides standards for advertising, labelling and performance to manufacturers and importers of cleaning products making claims of antibacterial action. This Code was established more than two decades ago and is now due for a comprehensive review. Although the TGA has made minor amendments to disinfectant regulations since the Code’s inception, the TGA has signalled a more comprehensive reform work for 2026. Accord will undertake a full review and update of the Code once these reforms are finalised.
