Dr Jennifer Semple

Jen is the Senior Manager, Sustainability and Education Programs at Accord Australasia. She leads our sustainability work across the cosmetics, personal care, home care and cleaning sectors, helping our members understand and respond to policy and regulatory change on packaging, climate and other environmental issues. She also oversees Recognised, our ecolabel for commercial and industrial and institutional (I&I) hygiene products, and sits on the advisory board of the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Sustainable and Green Economy Manufacturing (SAGE-M).

Jen brings a chemist’s understanding of how ingredients, formulations and packaging can affect the environment, and how our sectors can reduce that impact. She is a research chemist whose work has been published in a range of scientific journals, and a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. She holds a PhD in organic chemistry and a Bachelor of Science (Advanced, Hons) from the University of Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of New England. Before joining Accord, she held postdoctoral roles at UNSW and the University of Sydney.
