Accord’s “Hand Sanitiser Industry Benchmark for non-therapeutic goods” provides detailed safety, performance and quality standards for hand sanitisers used by consumers and in various workplaces and industries. Specified in this Industry Benchmark are requirements for the quality of hand sanitiser ingredients, guidance on product performance (efficacy), safety, record keeping and quality assurance considerations, and guidance on packaging type, product claims and labelling.
The aim of the Industry Benchmark is to comprehensively address concerns around quality, efficacy and safety of non-therapeutic hand sanitisers in line with existing regulatory requirements and existing industry standards and expectations. The Industry Benchmark does not attempt to replicate any regulatory requirements (compliance to these are mandatory) but does provide helpful notes to assist those that may be new to regulations relating to non-therapeutic hand sanitisers.
